Ryan Adams revealed that he would be recording Taylor Swifts, 1989 album in its entirety due to his love for the songs and Taylor Swift herself. I’ve been a fan of Adams for years and also find Taylor Swift to be a pretty decent artist as well. That and she’s hot! Calvin Harris is a very lucky guy. My guilty pleasure aside; I was a little dubious at first because Adams isn’t exactly “a pop star”. A couple of days ago, we got our first glimpse of what we can expect when his cover of Bad Blood was released. As a result, I’m no longer dubious. I’m actually really looking forward to the album.
Ryan Adams now infamous vocals work perfectly with the lyrics about a lost love. Something he isn’t unfamiliar with considering the majority of his own songs are about love and the subsequent loss of. He’s also flawless on a guitar and the stripped back acoustic sound of Bad Blood proves that you don’t need drums, electro and pointless cameos. It’s raw, emotive and just like the original; catchy as fuck!
1989 by Ryan Adams is released digitally TOMORROW! (Monday 21st September) with physical copies to follow at a later date.
