Scroobius Pip (David Meads) has been a pillar of the spoken word scene for as long as I can remember. He found success when meeting with Dan Le Sac where they released three albums under the simple name Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip. From here, he’s gone on to release more solo material with books and merchandise to boot. Releasing things on his own label has allowed the freedom to talk about anything he wants. And talking of talking, he’s now dipping his feet in to the acting world where will see him soon star in the BBC drama, Taboo, alongside Tom Hardy nonetheless!
I can’t wait for that series to start but until then, I’m all about filling my time with more of Pip’s talking with his phenomenal podcast, Distraction Pieces. He gets the best guests on and even when I don’t have a personal interest in the guests subject matter; there’s always something to enjoy from hearing their stories. The podcast is great in making it seem like a conversation between two friends with the flow working incredibly well and appearing very natural.
My personal highlights so far have been Stephen Graham, Paddy Considine, Nick Frost, Carl Barat, Robin Ince, Itch (The King Blues), Danny Wallace, Preston (The Ordinary Boys), James Acaster and Stewart Lee.
You all definitely need to check it out and listen to it on your commute to and from work. You won’t be disappointed.
