It was announced earlier this week that Queens Of The Stone Age will be hosting a very special one day festival at London’s Finsbury Park on the 30th of June next year. The festival will be of course be headlined by the rock juggernauts themselves but the event as named Queens Of The Stone Age & Friends will of course feature an eclectic group of their mega star associates including names such as Swedish garage punk outfit The Hives, Hip-Hop super group Run The Jewels & even punk pioneer and general world icon Iggy Pop.
With QOTSA frontman Josh Homme having produced Iggy’s last album ‘Post Pop Depression’ it’s perfectly clear how this affiliation has led to Iggy being on the bill, but with the promotional material stating that there are more names to be announced, this has all wondering and trying to connect the dots to figure out who else may be joining the ranks. With Homme so heavily involved could it be that Eagles Of Death Metal also perform? How about Foo Fighters considering Dave Grohl’s previous ties on drumming duties with the QOTSA. Perhaps we’ll even see The Distillers perform if Josh puts a call in to wife Brody Dalle? Who knows, the possibilities are endless, but what it obvious is that for fans of rock n roll music, this is going to be one of the most must see events of 2018, and I for one, can’t wait, and after reading such high praising reviews of the recent QOTSA ‘Villains‘ tour, the headliners will be looking to steal the show.
